  • Learned something about the actor model (as a continuation of studying state machines).
  • Stuck this on the reading list: Command Line Interface Guidelines. I appreciate a well-designed CLI, and there’s something attractive about user interfaces that don’t require dealing with browser quirks. A problem with CLIs as a primary means of interacting with the computer is discoverability. Given a blank command line, how do you know what you can do? I don’t think that is at all insurmountable, and there are the seeds of a renaissance of terminal interfaces more generally (for instance, the charm.sh ecosystem of Go libraries).
  • Paired on a power demand forecasting and optimization project, ran a quick Prophet benchmark on a univariate verion of the problem. I haven’t thought about demand forecasting in a year now, and it was fun to think about that stuff again.
  • A much anticipated coffee chat with the other Chris in batch. Two Chrises entered the room, and after a most fierce and violent duel nice coffee chat, only one emerged they went about their days.
