Slightly fragmented day. A reflection I had yesterday (at the learning generously workshop) is that I like having a main project, and I don’t right now, just lots of small (but still very educational) noodlings. I think my main, maybe only, goal for tomorrow is to choose a bigger thing to focus on. Something on the scale of a week or two.
- Paired for a couple of hours. It was mostly a wide-ranging (and very fun) coffee chat, but also learning something about parser combinators in Haskell. My pair convinced me to write a blog post (TODO) about my experiments with Vite as a generic bundler and to read (or, at least, buy) Richard Hamming’s The Art of Doing Science and Engineering, which I impulsively did.
- Shader Shindig kind of dissolved when none of us knew much about shaders, so it turned into a coffee chat with another recurser who generously listened to marginalia about my personal site (this one).
- Learned about MRIs at non-programming talks.
- Read some about small research labs in Continuing to think about research labs: 14 references. I was pleasantly surprised to see my former team (Fast Forward Labs) mentioned 🙂 I guess this is me starting to think about post-batch life a little.
